Head Coach
Kevin Lynott

The Kevin Lynott path to Middletown Football:


Kevin Lynott was born in Bethlehem Pennsylvania in 1970.  His family moved to Fairfax County Virginia in 1973 and then to Fremont, California in 1978.  They relocated back to Prince William County Virginia in 1980 and this is where the family resided through Coach Lynott’s graduation from Potomac High School in 1989. Coach Lynott was a celebrated athlete in high school.  His High School Accolades include his team winning the Commonwealth District in 1988 and the Northwest Region in 1986. He personally was the All-Commonwealth District Center in 1987 and 1988 and the All Northwest Region Center in 1988.  He was a “Bigger, Faster, Stronger” All American, MVP lineman of the year, Mr Panther (Leadership Award) and a Team captain his senior year.  During this time, he was a tri-captain with two professional football players, Tommy Thigpen (UNC All American Linebacker/ New York Giants) and Craig Novitsky (UCLA All American Offensive Tackle/ New Orleans Saints/ Dallas Cowboys/ and Baltimore Ravens)

In Track and Field, he was a 4 year letter winner in indoor and outdoor track and in 1988 and 1989 he accomplished becoming a Virginia State Championship Discus Finalist.

 

Coach Lynott attended Shepherd University graduating in 1993.  He has a BA degree in Secondary Education graduating “Cum Laude”.  He was a student representative to the NCAA Athletic Committee, a Phi Epsilon Kappa member (Academic Honors Fraternity) and President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in 1992 and 1993.   While at Shepherd his team was the 1991 and 1992 WVIAC Conference Champion and also in 1992 they made it to the Final Four NAIA National Championship.  He was the 1992 and 1993 Team Captain and an All WVIAC offensive tackle.  He had 40 career games with 37 starts including 36 consecutive starts. He was a four year Letterman and consistently a leader in the weight room and the class room displayed by his two particular awards in 1993 Top Ram Strength Award and Fall Top Ram G.P.A. 3.25. 

 

Kevin Lynott’s coaching experience includes assistant and head coaching jobs at two Frederick schools.  From 1994-1999, he was an assistant coach at  Brunswick High School helping the team to be the 1995 Regional Champions and the 1999 Maryland State Champion Runner-Up.  He then moved to Middletown High School as an assistant coach and helped that program to become 2001 MVAL Champions followed by a repeat as 2002 MVAL Champions and then Maryland State Champion Runner-Up.  While at Middletown he also served in 2002 as the Head Girls Track coach.  In 2003, Brunswick High School named him its Head Coach where he remained until this year.  Ironically his first win as a head coach was over arch rival Middletown in double overtime breaking a 23 year old drought for BHS against Middletown.  His team there went on to be the 2005 1A North Regional Champions and 1A State Championship Semi-finalist.  He left with a 25-28 overall record at Brunswick to become the 2008 Head Coach at Middletown High School.

 

Coach Lynott is a member of the American Football Coaches Association, National Strength and Conditioning Association and in 2008 became a Nationally Certified Fly Solo Instructor.  Coach Lynott lives in Myersville with his wife Kelly and 4 Children;  Kaitlin (a Middletown H.S. student), Kevin Joseph 9, Kristopher 7, and Keith 4.  He is a certified teacher with responsibilities in School Resource at Middletown H.S.

 





Bill Hildbold

The Bill Hildbold path to Middletown Football:

 

Bill Hildbold was born October 25, 1951 in Pittsburgh Pa.  His family moved to Northern Virginia in 1961 where he grew up in Fairfax County and attended W.T. Woodson High School.  There he played in the high school band,  was an officer in the Key Club, a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a member of the stage crew and earned his Eagle Scout award. Before graduating in 1969 he won letters in Football, Wrestling and Track.  He was a captain of the track team and a First Team All-District, First Team All-Region and honorable mention All State Football player.

 

Coach Hildbold attended the University of Notre Dame graduating on the Dean’s List in 1973.  His first year there he was a member of the wrestling team then moved to the rowing team for the next three years.  His coaching career began in South Bend as he coached the Notre Dame freshmen crew team for one year. During his senior year Coach Hildbold coached wrestling at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana.  He then returned to Northern Virginia to begin a teaching career with Fairfax County Public Schools and later earned his Master’s Degree in Education from UVa. in 1984. 

His first position was at McLean High school where he taught math for 17 years being voted “Teacher of the Year” in 1980.  He coached football throughout his career at McLean including the last few years there as the Head Coach.  He was also an assistant and later Head Wrestling Coach, the Head Girls Soccer coach for 10 years, 3 years as an assistant Track coach and 4 years as an assistant Baseball coach.

During his time at McLean, teams he coached won district championships in Football, Wrestling, Soccer and Baseball.  Notable athletes that he coached were; Football; Eric Dorsey, who started for 4 years at Notre Dame and then played for the New York Giants for seven years winning a Super Bowl, Baseball; Seth Griesinger who attended UVa.  was the winning pitcher for the Bronze medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics and later played for the Detroit Tigers.  Women’s soccer; Gayle Smith, now the head coach at Marymount U. in Arlington Va. and Marcia McDermott who started 4 years at North Carolina, was a captain and won 3 National Championships and one Runner Up.  Marcia also was the head Women’s soccer coach at Maryland, Arkansas and started the program at Northwestern U.  She later was the Head coach of the Carolina Courage in the now defunct WUSA.  The only female head coach and a winner of the championship one year.  One other player of note on his soccer team was Mary Chaney, daughter of Vice President Dick Chaney.  He also worked with Churchill High School in Montgomery Co. Maryland to run camps with one of his former high school coaches Fred Shepherd.

Coach Hildbold moved to Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax for the next ten years as a football coach, assistant then head Wrestling coach and as the Assistant Director of Student Activities.  During his time at Robinson, the football teams he helped coach won 3 District Championships, 1 Runner-up regional championship, 2 Regional Championships and the state Division 6 (largest schools in the state) State Championship in 1997.  While coaching wrestling his teams won 5 District Championships, 1 Regional Runner Up, and 2 Regional Championships.  Several of his wrestlers went on to wrestle in college including his son Billy who won a scholarship on the wrestling team at George Mason U.   A dozen or more football players went on to play football at D1 or D1AA programs on scholarship including his son Joey who was the starting punter four years at Notre Dame (99-02 seasons) and was a two time Ray Guy finalist.  Other notables were David VanDyke and Scott Sanden (Penn St.) Charles Hatten and Mike Imoh (Virginia Tech) and Kevin Kiley (Boston College and now in the WWE). 

During his time at Robinson, he was a Calculus teacher for 9 years and became involved in administration becoming the Assistant Director of Student Activities.  He also earned his national certification asa NFICEP coaching education instructor, a nationally Certified Athletic Administrator and a nationally certified instructor in the LTC program for athletic directors.  During this time he became involved with 4thDown Sports, an organization that coaches punters and kickers from High School through the professional ranks.  He continues to run camps and is the head coach of the high school and college camps which have produced a great number of successful kicking specialists on all three levels.  Including his son Joey, other notable kickers and punters include Josh Brown (Seattle Seahawks/St. Louis Rams), Neal Rackers (Cardinals), Shayne Graham (Cincinnati Bengals), Nick Novak ( Redskins, Bears and Chiefs), Connor Barth (Chiefs) and Steve Weatherford (N.O. Saints).

In 2000, he moved to Herndon High School as the Director of Student Activities and served as the District Chairman for 4 years as well as the tournament director of numerous district, regional and state events and earned a nomination as Va. State Athletic Director of the year.  One athlete of note at Herndon was Scottie Reynolds considered one of the best players in college basketball today and playing for Villanova.

In 2005 Coach Hildbold retired from Fairfax County Public Schools and came to Frederick County public schools as a math teacher at Brunswick.  In 2005 he coached Quarterbacks at Shenandoah U. and then for the next two years coached football at Brunswick with Kevin Lynott.  He is a milestone coach in the Virginia High School Coaches Association in both Wrestling and Girls Soccer and in 2006 he was elected by the Va. Chapter to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Oklahoma.  He is also one of the directors of the NIKE Coach of the year clinic held in February in Chantilly Va.  This is his first year on the Middletown staff.

 

Coach Hildbold lives in Lovettsville, Virginia with his wife, Melanie, whom he has been married to for 35 years.  He has three children Melanie Badillo 33, (coach of the 2007 Va. AAA state Champion Cheerleaders), Billy 31, a lawyer in New York and Joey 27 (a former football Coach at U. of Washington and William and Mary), now an accountant in New Jersey.  He also has two grand children Ryan (8) a member of the Middletown Knights mini pony team and Madison (3).





Mike Desimone

The Mike DeSimone Path to Middletown Football:

 

Mike was born April 2, 1968 in Washington D.C.  He attended St. John’s College high school also in Washington D.C. where he played both football and baseball.  Upon completing graduation in 1986, Mike moved on to Shepherd College (now University) where he graduated in 1991.  As a teacher and wanting to again be part of an athletic program, he moved to Bladensburg High School in 1991.  There Mike coached football and baseball, the sports in which he had excelled in high school.  He was there until 1996 and during that time coached Ebenezer Ekuban who is currently with the Denver Broncos.  Mike then moved onto Frederick High School where he coached football in 96-97.  His next move was to Middletown High School as the Head Baseball coach in 1997 and then joined the football staff in 1998.  Mike remained the Head Baseball Coach until 2004, moving on to coach at Tuscarora High for 05-06 season followed by a move back to Middletown as an assistant baseball coach in 2007 through the present.  Except for a two year layoff, Mike has coached football at Middletown since arriving.  He presently serves as the offensive coordinator and is the coach on the staff with the most Middletown High School experience.  Among his many accolades, he coached the 2007 Maryland State finalist baseball team at Middletown.  He has coached four regional finalist teams in baseball and four Maryland regional finalist football team who then went onto 2 State finalist teams.  Mike is currently the director of the 2A West Region baseball tournament.  Mike was nominated by his former player Ebenezer Ekuban as an NFL players “Coach of the Year”.  One of the outstanding single moments in his life was the hole in one that he shot on the golf course in North Carolina.

Mike and his wife, Tammi have two children Jennifer (age 12) and Nicholas (age 10).  Mike resides in the Middletown area and is a social studies teacher at Middletown High School teaching A. P. classes.





Tyler White

The Tyler White Path to Middletown:

 

Tyler White is the defensive backs and offensive receivers coach on the varsity football team.  Tyler was born in Lancaster California on November 10, 1977.  He is a 1996 graduate of Middletown High School where he was a stand out athlete in Football and Track.  He was a finalist (finishing 5th) in the 300 m hurdles in the 1996 State Track Meet.  As a football player, Tyler was an All-Area 2nd Team Wide Receiver and a 1st Team All-Area Defensive Back.  His skills, tenacity, and work ethic propelled him onto the football team at Waynesburg College where he then also produced outstanding results.  He was a 2nd Team All-Conference Defensive Back both his Junior and Senior years and served as the team captain both of those years as well.  Tyler moved on to coaching at Shepherd University for the 2001-2002 seasons following his time at Waynesburg.   His next move was to Jefferson High School in West Virginia for the '03 and '04 seasons and then on to Middletown in his present position.  Tyler has been associated with winning programs throughout his career.  His college team won the Presidents’ Athletic Conference in ’98 and he has been part of MVAL championships in ’95, ’05 and 2006 as well as the Maryland West Region in '06.

He has been involved with the Middletown football community since 6th grade and is continuing to give back to his high school and community daily.  Tyler now works for Metron Aviation in Dulles Virginia.  He lives in Hagerstown with his wife Erin, and children Jayden, Ezra and Asher.
